The RISE Chorale sang the introit, communion anthem, and benediction response.  RISE is an acronym for “Revolutionizing and Inspiring Singing Excellent.”  They were founded and are directed by Emily Williams Burch.  They rehearse at First on Monday afternoons.  The communion anthem, “Da Pacem Domine,” which they will sing in the original Latin, is a 16th century canon by Melchior Franck (1573-1639), arranged by contemporary composer Mary Goetze.  The benediction response is a song from Papau New New Guinea.  The Kuanuan language conveys multiple meanings, including a spiritual, roughly translated as: “Spread love, love, joy, and the Spirit of God to all those you touch.”
